Tracey Eller & Chemo #17
I would like to thank Tracey Eller who is a good friend of mine. My Mom has been making heating pads on her sewing machine and Tracey has been selling them on her flights. She has been a flight attendant for US Airways for over 2o years now and has been selling them like hotcakes. You place the heating pads in the microwave for a couple of minutes and the rice inside heats up making a nice little heating pad for neck and back aches. Keeps my Mom busy and keeps her mind off of things and she really enjoys making them. So a big thank you to Tracey Eller vacationing in Newport Beach this week!! If anyone is interested in one drop me a line. They go for $10. My Mom also makes cool ties for $5, both make great gifts.

Mom and i went to chemo # 17 today. Got the full dose and it went well. I went for a MUGA scan on Tuesday of this week. A MUGA scan is a scan of the heart (Multiple gated acquisition scan). They pull a small vile of blood out and mix it with a radioactive solution that attaches to the red blood cells. They let the blood and solution sit for 30 minutes, reinject it back into the blood stream and take picures of the heart. 3 different angles taking about 30 minutes. A movie of the beating heart is produced measuring the "ejection fracture" of the left ventricle. It is an excellent measure of overall cardiac function. An "ejection fracture" is simply the proportion of blood expelled from the ventricle with each heart beat. I will see Doctor Cavalcant in 2 weeks to get the results back on that test. The reason for the test is that herceptin is very hard on the heart and they want to make sure threre is no damage occuring. So i will update that when i get the results back in a couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone who has come by to cut the grass, drop off food, or just made a phone call/email for support, all are greatly appreciated!! Tomorrow I will blog about my newest addition....and he's a cutie!!

Keep on bloggin and stay cool out there!!
