My radiation oncologist is on vacation so Dr. Cavalcant recommended i see Dr. Zacky last Friday. She was very thorough. She said i have exceeded my limits for radiation to the brain. The most a human should have is a max of 60 grey (quantity). I've had 2 doses and I'm over 67 grey. If I were to have more radiation it would severely damage my nerves and i would lose my memories. So fighting the brain cancer with radiation is no longer and option. I went and saw Dr. C today and he said unfortunately Chemo also is ineffective against brain cancer. The Chemo doesn't reach the base of the brain where mine is located. Excluding the brain i have very little cancer in my body he said (lower spine). So he thinks the best thing to do at this time is to go back on Herceptin drip every 3 weeks and we will monitor the brain cancer closely. I asked about clinical studies and he said they cant do it for the base of the brain/lining. But he said he would check for me anyway.
Wish i had better news medically.
But i do have some happy news. My brother Dan will be here Wednesday. He's bringing Amy his 3 legged yellow Labrador for a week and a half and we will spend it with my parents for the Holidays. He's taking me to Chemo Thursday morning. Tanner will be stoked to have Amy around!
